One Last Card For Tonight

Well, this is the last one for tonight. I'll have a couple more in the next 2 days.

A Night of Many Cards

Hi Everyone!

It's been a little while since I've posted but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy making cards! I've got 7 (yup, 7!) tonight so let's get started.

The first one is by far my favorite. I love the carolers stamp and I just found it at AC Moore this past week. I think the company, Rubber Soul, is going to be one of my new faves. Check 'em out!

This is my first attempt at paper piecing and I'm very happy how it turned out. What a great way to make use of those paper scraps!

I made this one for me. Yup, I decided I deserve a Christmas card. :) Enjoy!

A Craft Fair and Other Good Things

So I participated in a craft fair at work this past Friday and it went well. 10% of our profits went to a local charity so I felt I really needed to get on board with it. Besides, I had a couple of months to get ready and had already started making lots of holiday tags and cards.

Because of the craft fair, I don't have anything new to post picture-wise of cards and/or tags (since most of what I made was already posted in previous posts) but I am going to start working on some new non-holiday related stuff very soon. I miss doing the regular sketch challenges and can't wait to get back into it!

I hope you are all doing well and I promise I will have something new posted very soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'm Still Here!

It's been a couple weeks since I've posted but I AM still here! 2 wisdom (I say "wisdom" VERY loosely!) teeth extracted put me out of commission for a couple weeks along with getting a new doggie. I have been working on making cards and tags for holiday orders and a craft fair we are having at work. I spent 11 hours on it yesterday and boy was I tired! They aren't anything I haven't posted on here but I hope to make a few different ones tonight. I'll get them posted as soon as I can.

I hope you are all doing well!

-Megan :)

Some New Holiday Tags

Hi Everyone!

I'm finally getting a chance to get these posted. I made them over the last few weeks but life has been crazy, including having 2 wisdom teeth removed this past Friday, so here I am.

I really like how these turned out. This is my first holiday season doing paper crafting so it's been fun to say the least. The top 2 pics are of large tags and the rest are small.

Enjoy!

Sugar Creek Hollow Autumn Yummyness!

Good morning (or afternoon or evening depending on where you are) everyone! Happy Saturday!

Today's card for Sugar Creek Hollow (SCH) is one I made using a layout sketch that was provided to the Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team. I really enjoy creating cards from layout sketches. It's a great way to think more about the different elements you are going to use in a card instead of focusing on a layout. I highly recommend using layout sketches for any level papercrafter.

Along with the Design Team being asked to use the layout sketch, we were also asked to use any of the SCH Fall or Holiday digis. What an amazing, creative assortment!! While you are out and about on the 'net today, head on over to the SCH store and don't forget to visit the blogs of the other Design Team members. The ladies that are on this Design Team are incredibly talented and generous. Why not head on over to their blogs and leave them a comment. It will make their day, just as it has made mine to have you stop by here!

We also have a new Design Team member. Her name is Dawn and you can visit her wonderful blog here. Welcome Dawn!

Last but not least, if you are on Twitter, head on over to SCH's Twitter home and become a follower. I'll be posting some fun and interesting links up there.

Here are the details about the card:

Stamps: (SCH) Shabby Owl with Baby Punkins', Lord of the Harvest Tag and Autumn Goodies sentiment.
DP: Graphic 45 and Basic Grey
Ink: Ranger Distress Ink in Antique Linen, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo
Misc: Prismacolor colored pencils, Copics, ribbon and gold gems

Here is the sketch layout:

This is my card and a close-up below it.

I hope these cards inspire you to be creative in any way you enjoy. Whether it be paper crafting, needlework, knitting or any kind of hobby, ENJOY IT!

Happy Thoughts and Prayers Needed Desperately!

Hi Everyone,

I really need help on this one.

A friend and co-worker had a brain aneurysm and then a stroke on Friday, 9/24 and she isn't doing well.

Please, if you could, keep her in your thoughts. She was young and in great shape and very, very driven and strong. She is a fighter.

This is such a blow to so many people. She needs all the prayers she can get.

Thank you so much everyone!

Sincerely,
Megan

A Favorite Picture

I found this on my computer today and just had to post it. This is my husband, Brian and our dog Truman who we had to put down on 8/1/10. I love this picture. It was taken in 9/08.

Sugar Creek Hollow Card

Good morning everyone!

I made this card for the Sugar Creek Hollow DT. The card needed to be black, cream and red. The bicycle and sentiment are digis from Sugar Creek Hollow. The background paper is from Graphic 45. I also used Ranger Distress Ink in Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Fired Brick around the edges, added some red pearl stickers and 3 black brads. Last but not least, I added the red ribbon.

Enjoy!

Still Here

Wow, it feels like I've been away for weeks but it's only been a few days. I miss crafting but haven't felt like doing a darned thing. I've had a nasty cold since this past Saturday and I gotta say, enough is enough! I've been rude to it, talked sweetly to it and then just downright ignored it but it apparently likes me and doesn't want to leave yet so here I am, whining a little. I hope to be up and crafting again soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Challenge

I love having a goal. I love being determined, driven and I especially love a challenge. This brings me to my newest one: Operation Paris.

My husband knows how much I love the French language. He told me last night that I take pride in it, even try to correct him when he mis-pronounces the words. I actually took French in high school but that was a long time ago & I remember very little of it. So, my husband proposed a deal: I learn French and he will take me to Paris. Not bad, huh?

So, this is my new goal, to learn French. I'm going to look into language software. I'm pretty computer-savvy so I think that will be right up my alley.

Here is what I think of when I think of Paris. A lovely cafe, a newspaper and coffee. Wish me luck!

An SCH Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone!

This morning's card is one I created for Sugar Creek Hollow. The DT was given a fun sketch challenge and with so many wonderful digi stamps to choose from, it was difficult deciding what to create! Well, I tried and here's what I came up with.

Why not head on over to the SCH store. Tracy's images are beautiful, vintage designs which can be used in so many different ways. You are only limited by your imagination! (the prices are great too)

Last but certainly not least, please check out the other DT members blogs over on the right of this page. They are an amazingly talented group of women!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

Thanks so much for visiting!

Spooooooky Haunted House!

It's getting to be that time of year again... Here in Upstate NY it's starting to get cooler (I like "cooler" but not "cold") the leaves are turning and I've started drinking hot coffee in the morning instead of my Summer staple, iced coffee.

With all that being said, I'm getting in the mood for Halloween. One of my favorite things about Halloween are haunted houses so, why not make a card?!

The haunted house is an image I got from clipartpal.com which also included 2 bats. I opened up the image in Photoshop, cleaned it up a little and duplicated one of the bats so I could have more than 2. I also downloaded a free font from dafont.com to make that very scary looking font for the sentiment.

I colored the house with Copics and Prismacolor colored pencils. The background paper is from Memory Box (I LOVE their paper!). I also used Ranger Distress Ink in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo around the edges of everything.

Enjoy!

Over on the right is the Design Team list. Come take a look at who's on the team. They have some great cards to show you using the latest digis. Then, make sure to visit the store to purchase any of these great digis. We even have some Vintage gift ideas you can purchase.

Christmas Tags

Well, I'm getting started early. I've ordered some Christmas stash lately and just had to use it!

I saw a tutorial that Tim Holtz did for Ranger using tags so I thought I could do it too. I went to Staples and got a pack of 100 shipping tags for $6. What a great alternative (and instant gratification) to cards.

Here are the stamps I used:
HA Swirl Tree
snowflakes, trees, branches, sentiments (all except "Wishing You... which is from the Wishing You Happy stamp from Print Works) and cardinal are from A Muse

Inks:
Ranger Distress Ink: Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Fired Brick, Broken China

Misc:
Ranger Perfect Pearls
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Copic Markers
Ranger Distress embossing powder in walnut
bling

Thursday Night Card

Hi Everyone!

Tonight's card is one I made for a friend to give to a guy who graduated high school in the face of amazing odds.

The guitar is from free clipart I found and the background is from free sheet music. I found both online.

I colored the guitar with Copics and Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I used Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, Tea Dye and Tattered Rose on the background and on the sentiment. The sentiment uses the Hero Arts Fanciful Swirl Alphabet set. I placed some buttons on the bottom to finish it out.

Enjoy!

Midnight Madness!

Hi Everyone!

Tonight's card is one I made using the sketch from the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #67. Sugar Creek Hollow is this week's sponsor. Head on over to their store!

Sugar Creek Hollow is an exclusive online business located in the heart of Central Virginia, tight on the James River. They specialize in Vintage, Shabby, & Primitive Digi Stamps, digital watermarks, as well as carry a full selection of colors in their exclusive “Country Crinkle Ribbon”. They offer seasonal vintage paper gifts and unique Vintage Cell Phone holders. Stop by and sit a spell over on their front porch, or take a walk down memory lane with them. Tracy is offering one lucky winner a $25 Gift Certificate to her store.

The details:
I used the Hero Arts Friendship Definition digi for the background and distressed it with Ranger Distress Inks in Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo and Tea Dye.
The sentiment is from the Hero Arts You're The Best clear set.
The flowers are from the Cherry Blossoms Branch digi from Sugar Creek Hollow.
I colored the cherry blossoms with Copics and added some pink and white pearls.
Last but not least, I added some ribbon and a metal clip in the center of the bow.

Hope you like it!

Have a great night.

Thinking Of You

Hi everyone!

Tonight's card is one I made for a friend who recently suffered a loss in her family.

I started out with white card stock and using my Mac, I printed a flower digi freebie and the Thinking of You sentiment on it. The sentiment is one I typed using a font that I had.

I colored the image with Copics and added some gems. I also duplicated the butterfly and then used adhesive to place the one I cut out on top of the one from the image to give it depth. I also used Ranger Distress Ink in Tea Dye for the background.

Thanks for stopping by!
