Thank You!!!

A big, huge thank you to everyone who has been stopping by my blog! I love the comments you have been leaving. They are very, very inspiring! (I've also gotta admit that I have a lot of fun with the geography tracker on the bottom of my blog. It's so cool to see where everyone is visiting from!)

I'm VERY new to card making/paper crafting. I started in Feb 2010 but have been bitten by the bug! I won't say that every time I sit down at my craft desk that I feel the "mojo" to create but it's a lot of fun just sitting down and coloring sometimes!

I hope you continue to stop by, view and comment on my little creations. I'm having a blast!

Flo and Friends

Good Evening Everyone!

It's a little late tonight but I was trying to get another card done for the Get Sketchy challenge that is due by midnight. I really liked this challenge. There were so many possibilities!

The main focus is a freebie digi stamp from Pollycraft. Her name is Flo The Gardener and I think she is adorable. Joining her are her butterfly and beaver friends.

The sentiment is from the HA set Small Greetings and the butterfly is one I cut out from some patterned paper. I colored Flo with Copics.

Card Full 'O Flowers

Ahhh... flowers. I love them so much. But, I gotta say this was a challenging challenge. (Say that ten times fast! LOL!) I made this card for the Sketch #74 challenge at CardPatterns.

The background and sentiment are from Hero Arts - Flower Wallpaper and Small Greetings stamps. I colored the background with Prismacolor colored pencils. The rest of the card is from different sets of paper I had and then I added some accent pearls.

Thanks for checking it out!

Oceans of Joy

My first card up tonight is one I made for challenge #48 over at Get Sketchy The background is the Raindrop Background stamp from Hero Arts and the mermaid is a freebie digi from Pollycraft. I colored the mermaid with Copics, stamped the sentiment using the HA set Fanciful Swirl Alphabet and added some ribbon.

I hope you like her! (and I hope I win the challenge!)

Friday, July 23, 2010

It's Friday and all I can say is yay! I'm so happy I'm not at work, I don't even know where to begin. So, I've decided I won't. Cards are WAY better than work anyway. :)

The card I have for tonight is one I made for a woman at work who recently received a promotion.

The flowers are digi freebies from that I colored with some Copics. The clouds are paper from Memory Box and the sentiment is from the Hero Arts set, Fanciful Swirl Alphabet. I used a punch on the blue paper at the top and on the grass I used Ranger Distress Ink and some different Memento green inks.

I am submitting this card to the 2 Sketches 4 You challenge #57. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Dreamy Card

Happy Friday!

Well, it was a rough week at work but I've taken some learning lessons away from it and will be going into next week with a new attitude. This is exciting to me and it's very liberating to feel this weight lifted off my shoulders.

Something that makes me very happy though is card making and this card is one that I really enjoyed making and truly like how it turned out. I will be submitting this to the 2 Sketches 4 You challenge #56.

I used a Hero Arts digi stamp for the butterfly from their Winged Friends set. The background is paper from Memory Box. The sentiment is a stamp from A Muse. I added a ribbon and some bling to the butterfly and voila!

Another Monday Card

Hi again!

My 2nd card tonight is one I made for a friend who is going through a difficult time. I had seen a video on the Ranger Ink website called "Perfect Distress" which using the Ranger Distress Inks and Ranger Perfect Pearls. I have both but I'm not always completely sure what to do with them. This was a lot of fun and the site above links right to the tutorial. I plan on using that technique again very soon!

Happy Monday Evening!

Hi there,

Another hot day here in Upstate NY. I know it's summer but I'm really looking forward to some relief. My kind of weather is 70 degrees, dry and sunny, not 90, humid and partly cloudy. Hmmppphh!

Enough about my weather woes, I have 2 cards to show you tonight. The first is one I made using a digi design from Michelle Perkett. Her designs are so cute and such a pleasure to color and be creative with.

I used watercolor paper and water-colored the background. Then I drew a little island, added some rubber duckies that I've had and cut some different shades of blue paper for the waves. I colored the island, girl and the duckies with Copics.

I hope you like her!

Seize The Cupcake!

Hello Everyone from Upstate NY!

Jeez, it's been unbelievably hot here. I'm sure that all of you who live in typically warm places are probably asking yourselves, "How hot could Upstate NY possibly get? I'm sure we have it wayyy hotter here!" Well, the last 3 days have been around 98 degrees and VERY humid. So yes, I think the state of NY has moved to Florida.

On another topic, I've got a new card to show you. I made it for a friend's birthday and I really hope she likes it. I'm also submitting it to the Card Patterns Sketch Blog for Sketch #71. I hope I win! :)

I used a few different things on this one. The background is a sheet of canvas paper with Ranger Inks Shabby Shutters and Broken China. I took the inks and pressed them both onto a craft sheet and used my Mini Mister to add a little water. I then dragged the piece of canvas through it and then heat set it.

The stamps and sentiment are from the Cupcakes set from Hero Arts. I colored the cupcakes with Prismacolor Premiere colored pencils and added a little bling. I also used Shabby Shutters Distress Ink on the sentiment.

Hope you like it!

I'm Back!

Hi Everyone!

I'm finally back after a short break. Between my trip to NYC last weekend and A LOT of stress and not feeling well this past week, things seemed to have calmed down a little bit and I knew I needed to post some cards.

Not that I haven't been making them, I definitely have been but sitting down at the computer and getting them posted, etc. just hasn't been getting done. So, here I am with 5 new cards (told ya I've been making them! LOL!)

The first one was for a friend's birthday which I will also be submitting to the Simon Says Stamp challenge whose only requirement was to use checks, gingham or plaid in your layout. So, I went with checks. I also used the Hero Arts sets Cupcakes and Fanciful Swirl alphabet. The sentiment is also on Memory Box paper. I just love their paper. It's so pretty.

The next card was a try at the Color Layering Technique I saw the video for at Hero Arts. I like how it came out but I really want to try it again. I think it's going to take some practice. I used Ranger Distress Inks and Studio G pigment inks on the background.

This next one I made for the 2 Sketches 4 You challenge but I didn't get it to them in time. Oh well, I would still make the cards so it doesn't really matter!

For the flowers, I used a new stamp from Magenta and then colored them with Prismacolor Premiere colored pencils. I also added some bling. The background is a Hero Arts Cling Stamp called Flower Background that I stamped with Versamark ink and then heat-embossed with clear embossing powder.

My next card is one I did for a challenge over at Get Sketchy. Basically, at this point I'll use any excuse I can to use the Hero Arts digi butterflies from their Winged Friends set. I also used more Memory Box paper for the background. You can't go wrong with polka dots!

Last but not least is a card I did for a friend's son's 4th birthday. I love using the hippo stamp which I stamped once on the paper and then stamped on a separate piece, colored with Prismacolor Premiere colored pencils, and put on top of the first one using foam tape so it would stand out. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Fanciful Swirl Alphabet set and the clouds are from Memory Box paper again (I told you I love their paper!).

I hope you enjoyed all my cards! See you soon!
